Hello and welcome to our new website and our new name!
As many of our existing patients will have noticed, we have altered our name from Kingsbridge Chiropody Practice to Kingsbridge Chiropody and Podiatry. I have been asked many times what the difference between chiropody and podiatry is, and the answer really is that there is NOT a difference; the dictionary definition of both words is the same. However Podiatry is a term which has been used since the 1980’s, and is a more modern, more internationally recognised term for foot medicine, and one which you will hear increasingly used both in the media and by other health professionals. Indeed both Lucy and Sallie are trained not in Chiropody but in Podiatric Medicine.
We felt that the name of the practice needed to include the term podiatry, but that to drop the term chiropody may make it less clear to some people that we treat feet. Hence we have decided to use both terms to avoid any confusion! We hope that you like it.
We are hoping that our new website will provide you with information about Kingsbridge Chiropody and Podiatry, and answer any practical questions which you may have about us, either as a new or existing patient. However we are delighted to hear from our patients, so please feel free to call us should you need any further help.
Happy 2015!
